The Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Coalition is an alliance of leading health organizations, vascular health professional societies, and government agencies that have united to raise public and health professional awareness about lower extremity PAD. Committed to improving PAD patient outcomes, the PAD Coalition is coordinated by the Vascular Disease Foundation, a national, not-for-profit section 501(c)(3) organization.
The PAD Coalition seeks to improve the prevention, early detection, treatment, and rehabilitation of people with, or at risk for, PAD.
The Coalition has created the first comprehensive, national public and health professional PAD awareness and education campaign. Our activities help ensure that the detection and treatment of PAD becomes, and remains, a major priority on our national public health agenda. We are working to:
- Increase PAD awareness through a national campaign developed in partnership with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health: Stay in Circulation: Take Steps to Learn about PAD
- Disseminate evidence-based guidelines and clinical practice tools to health professionals, hospitals, health plans and health systems to improve PAD prevention, diagnosis, and treatment;
- Educate PAD patients about treatment strategies to improve survival rates and quality of life; and
- Advocate for health care policies and practices that ensure access to evidence-based diagnostic and treatment strategies to improve PAD outcomes.
